Cloverfield
AWESOME.

As I've said in a few other places, it was perfect - a crazy lots-of-destruction monster movie with a cool looking monster, interesting effects, and a different take on a genre that was tired 50 years ago. Predictable? Yeah. A little unrealistic? Yup. A really good time for a short, quick film? Absolutely.

I won't say much else, but take some dramamine and go see it. It's worth it, and it's a quick flick, too.

I happened to share your opinion, about the movie. I forgot to take my dramamine though. Seems that there's a sharp divide, some people dig it whereas afew people were asking for second opinions, and yet another stated that it was the worst movie he had ever seen.

I'm going to see it eventually. I'll try my hardest not to be disappointed that the monster's not Cthulhu.

It was definitely very Blair Witch-esque, especially how so many people seemed ripped off at the end. **SPOILER ALERTS** I personally loved how nothing was ever explained. No idea where it came from, what it was doing, what happens to someone who gets bit, etc. No answers at all. Explaining anything would have ruined the formula. Plus, we had to use our imaginations on our own. How frightening! I think people were pissed that the main guy didn't get to say a cool catch phrase ("Now who's bit, biatch!") before single handedly punching the monster out or something. People need memorable lines they can repeat on their way out, dammit!!!
